Eastside Lake Property
These clients bought this heavily wooded, overgrown piece of property knowing there was potential to capture incredible, expansive water views. They hoped a complex set of development constraints could be navigated to create their dream house on this unique hillside property.
The house is a simple “L” form, with gently pitched shed roofs and large overhangs that gesture toward the predominant view. The rich palette of elemental materials, including a clear cedar rain screen, standing seam metal roofing, stucco cladding, and a judicious use of stone, is a contemporary reflection of the wooded property. The massing of the house and its programmatic organization are divided into public and private zones, supporting the clients' lifestyle. A vehicle approach and entry court hug the uphill side of the lot, allowing significant glazing along the entire western face of the house to maximize views and natural light. A spacious kitchen, double height dining room, and extensive outdoor spaces encourage large-scale entertaining.
